Something clicked with the Lady Warriors on March 31st. Since that day, Wabash Valley has been one of the best teams in the country. They ended the regular season 23-3 and rode an eight game winning streak into the Region XXIV and Midwest District Tournament. The Lady Warriors used the momentum to win their first two games of tournament, before falling to Spoon River. Luckily, it's a double elimantion tournament.
The final day of the tournament, Wabash Valley had to win three games in order to claim the championships. They defeated John A Logan 12-8 and then had to beat Spoon River twice. They defeated Spoon River 3-1 in the first game. In game two, extra innings were needed as Wabash Valley couldn't break the 1-1 tie in the home half of the seventh. Spoon River was held scoreless in the top of the 8th inning and gave Wabash a chance to win it.
The first batter in the home half on the inning for the Lady Warriors was Easton Wampler. She was 0-2 up to that point, but Easton showed why her name is etched in the record books for Lady Warrior softball. On the second pitch, she sends one over the centerfield fence and walks it off for the Lady Warriors. The final was 2-1.
The Lady Warriors haven't been to the NJCAA World Series in 11 years. Their last tournament apperance was in 2015. Their tournament starts on May 25th
