After a weekend tournament in Vincennes, IN and finishing 2-2 on the weekend, the Lady Warriors get back in the win column over Shawnee tonight. Wabash Vallley took the match in five sets.
Shawnee took the first set 25-23, but Wabash answered in the second set by winning 25-15. The Lady Warriors offense struggled a little bit in the third set, as they fell 25-14. In a must win fourth set, Wabash beat Shawnee by ten, 25-15. The interesting fact of the first four sets was that neither team could capture a win on the east side of the gymansium floor. Both wins for both teams came on the west end of the gymnasium.
At the start of the fifth and final set, both team captains met with the officals to determine what side to start on and who would be serving. Wabash got the first serve opportunity, but unfortunately they started on the west end. Wabash was the first to reach 8 points, so the teams switched sides. Shawnee started to mount a rally after the switch, but came up short as the Lady Warriors took set five by a score of 18-16.
The Lady Warriors finished the match with 69 kills and was led by Cristina Felts with 17. Alyssa Wilke and Ayiana Nieves both finished the night with 32 assists. Their 32 assists combined were the Lady Warriors 64 match total. Wabash finished with 97 digs, with Sophie Spanier having 27 of them. Cristina Felts had two of the seven service aces for Wabash tonight. Alani Duncan finished with two solo blocks and one assited block. The team totals were eight solo blocks and two assisted blocks.
The Lady Warriors are back at the Spencer Sports Center on October 9th. They will host Lincoln Trail and the match starts at 6:30pm
