Tanner Morris begins his 6th season as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Wabash Valley College. Morris comes to WVC after spending the past four seasons as the Head Assistant Coach at Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois. While at Lincoln, the Lynx won the NJCAA National Title in 2011, led by 6’11 Florida State signee Kiel Turpin. Morris also landed highly touted recruit Aaron Simpson while at Lincoln College. Simpson was one of the top scorers in the country his senior year of HS an is beginning his Junior year at DePaul University. Morris started his coaching career in 2010 as an Assistant Coach at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. That season, they won the NJCAA National Title, and were led by current NBA player Jae Crowder, as well as six other division 1 players.
Morris is a native of Normal, IL and graduated from University High School. He was a member of the varsity golf team, and spent all four seasons as a part of the varsity basketball program. Morris attended Illinois Valley Community College, where he played collegiate golf for two years and was the head basketball manager. Morris then transferred to Lincoln College-Normal, where he graduated with a B.S. in Sports Management.
As a young, energetic coach, Morris has been around the game of basketball his entire life. His father, Bob Morris, was an Assistant Coach at Illinois State University, as well as Northern Illinois University, where he was on staff with former Warrrior Head Coach Mark Coomes.
Coach Morris keeps busy in the summers, working several Collegiate Basketball Camps throughout the state of Illinois. Morris and his father ran the Midwest Collegiate Basketball Camp, where he led individual workouts for many Division 1 and professional players.
