Mike Carpenter enters his 6th season as Head Coach at Wabash Valley. This is his 25th season coaching at the College level, during which time; he has coached at the NCAA Division I, NAIA, and Junior College levels. Prior to coming to WVC he was the Head Coach at Danville Area Community College for 7 seasons, where his teams won 139 games, including a 28-4 record in 2012-13, the All-Time best record in the school’s History.

Over 75 players have went on to 4 years universities, from Carpenter’s teams, including 7 who have played professionally.
He has also been an Assistant Coach at Western Illinois University (NCAA Division I), University of Saint Francis (NAIA), and Danville. He was also twice named an Assistant Coach for the USA All-Star team.
During summer Carpenter keeps busy working basketball camps and speaking at Coaches clinics.. He has directed numerous Summer Camps and has traveled throughout the Midwest conducting shooting camps and clinics. Carpenter has also worked for former Indiana University Head Coach Bob Knight as a staff member of the Bob Knight Basketball School. Carpenter was also the Site Director for the state of Florida's largest team camp at Florida Southern College. He has also worked camps and Basketball clinics on the island of Antigua, and was the director of two camps in England.
Carpenter is the Athletic Director at WVC and the President of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC). He also serves as the Chair for both Region 24 and the GRAC Conference for Division I Men’s Basketball.
He is originally from Linton, Indiana. He was a standout athlete in Basketball and Baseball earning 7 varsity letters and numerous all-conference and all-area awards. He was also named to the Southern Indiana All-Star team in baseball. He is the son of Bill and Diane Carpenter who reside in Bloomfield, Indiana.
Carpenter holds an Associate degree in Arts from Danville Area Community College, a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Social Studies from the University of Saint Francis, and went for to Graduate School in Sport Management at Western Illinois University.
